*How many tiles, how much paint and how much wallpaper to buy, with a margin and in whole packs.*

## What it calculates

Our renovation calculator online works out how many tiles, how much paint and how much wallpaper to buy: the number of tiles and boxes with a spare allowance, liters of paint and the number of cans after subtracting doors and windows, and the number of wallpaper rolls with pattern repeat.

The defaults suit a typical renovation, but you can change any parameter: tile size, paint coverage, number of coats, roll width and length.

- Tiles: room size, tile size, margin, tiles per pack
- Paint: walls minus doors and windows, coverage, number of coats, can size
- Wallpaper: perimeter, height, roll size and pattern repeat

## How to use it

1. Choose tiles, paint or wallpaper.
2. Enter the room or wall dimensions.
3. Set the material details. The defaults are fine to start with.
4. See how many packs, cans or rolls to buy.

## Example

Floor 4 × 3 m, tile 30 × 30 cm, 10% margin → **147 tiles**

## FAQ

**Why do I need a margin?**

Tiles get cut at the edges and some break. People usually add 10% on top, and more for diagonal layouts.

**What is a wallpaper pattern repeat?**

The distance before the pattern repeats. The larger it is, the more wallpaper goes into matching it up, and Calcie takes that into account.

**How do I figure out how much laminate I need?**

Use the “Tiles” tab: enter the room dimensions, the size of a laminate plank and the number of planks in a pack. For laminate, people usually add 5–10% extra.

**Does the “Renovation” mode work offline?**

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

**Is “Renovation” available on iPad and Mac?**

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

**How do I switch to the “Renovation” mode?**

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “Renovation”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
