What it calculates

Our geometry calculator online finds the area, perimeter, volume and surface area of fourteen shapes: square, rectangle, circle, triangle from three sides, trapezoid, parallelogram, ellipse, cube, box, sphere, cylinder, cone and pyramid, plus the third side by the Pythagorean theorem.

You can choose the units, whether millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet or yards, and the result comes out in square or cubic units. For a triangle, the calculator also shows the angles.

  • Flat shapes: square, rectangle, circle, triangle from three sides, Pythagorean theorem, trapezoid, parallelogram, ellipse
  • Solids: cube, box, sphere, cylinder, cone, pyramid
  • Area, perimeter, diagonal, volume, surface area, triangle angles
  • Units: mm, cm, m, km, inches, feet, yards

How to use it

  1. Pick a shape.
  2. Enter the dimensions. The labels show which side is which.
  3. Choose units if you need to, and the result comes in square or cubic units.

FAQ

How do I find the third side of a right triangle?

Choose “Pythagoras” and enter any two sides. The third is calculated for you.

How much water fits in a barrel?

Choose the cylinder, enter the radius and height, and the volume appears in cubic units.

How do I calculate the area of an oddly shaped room?

Split the room into rectangles and triangles, calculate each part and add them up. For floors, tiles and walls, the Renovation mode is handier because it calculates materials right away.

Does the “Geometry” mode work offline?

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

Is “Geometry” available on iPad and Mac?

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

How do I switch to the “Geometry” mode?

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “Geometry”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
