What it calculates

Our VAT calculator online adds tax to an amount or pulls it out of an amount that already includes tax, at any rate. Quick buttons cover common rates: 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 21 and 25%.

It works for sales tax too, and for any tax that's included in the price. The calculator shows the amount without tax, the tax itself and the total.

  • Add VAT: amount before tax → tax and total
  • Extract VAT: amount with tax → tax and amount without it
  • Any rate, plus quick buttons: 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 21, 25%

How to use it

  1. Choose “Add VAT” or “Extract VAT”.
  2. Enter the amount.
  3. Pick a rate or enter your own.

FAQ

Which rate should I choose?

The one that applies to your goods and your location. Rates are different everywhere, and Calcie doesn't fill one in for you.

How do I pull the tax out of an amount?

Use the “Extract VAT” tab: 1,200 at a 20% rate is 1,000 before tax and 200 of tax.

How is the VAT mode different from Percent?

It's built specifically for tax: it can both add VAT and pull it out of a total, and there are quick buttons for common rates. In Percent you'd have to extract the tax by hand.

Does the “VAT” mode work offline?

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

Is “VAT” available on iPad and Mac?

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

How do I switch to the “VAT” mode?

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “VAT”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
