What it calculates

A deposit calculator online with compound interest and monthly top-ups. It shows the final amount, the interest earned, the effective rate, tax on the income and a month-by-month schedule.

Interest is accrued by the actual calendar, day by day, leap years included. You can compare daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly compounding and see how much regular top-ups speed up the growth of a deposit.

  • Amount, annual rate, term in months or years
  • Compounding: none, daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly
  • Monthly top-ups and tax on interest. You enter the tax rate yourself
  • Final amount, interest earned, effective rate and a month-by-month schedule

How to use it

  1. Enter the deposit amount and the rate.
  2. Set the term and choose the compounding.
  3. Add top-ups and tax if you have them.
  4. Check the total and open the schedule to see the balance month by month.

Example

12,345.67 at 7.25% for 6 months, daily compounding= ≈ 12,800 (the exact figure depends on the opening date, since interest follows the calendar)

FAQ

Why does the result differ from my bank's?

Calcie accrues interest on the actual calendar, day for day. Banks sometimes count differently, so check your agreement.

Which tax should I enter?

The one that applies to you. Calcie doesn't know the rules of different countries and never fills anything in itself.

What is the effective rate?

It's the rate that accounts for compounding: the annual percentage you actually earn when interest is paid on interest. The more often it compounds, the higher the effective rate for the same nominal rate.

Does the “Deposit” mode work offline?

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

Is “Deposit” available on iPad and Mac?

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

How do I switch to the “Deposit” mode?

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “Deposit”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
