What it calculates

Our aspect ratio calculator online finds the height from the width (or the other way around) for 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, 21:9, 9:16 or any ratio of your own, and works out the ratio from known dimensions.

It's useful for photos, video, screens, banners and stories: the calculator shows the pixel count, the megapixels and the closest standard format.

  • Preset ratios: 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, 21:9, 9:16, 2:3, 5:4, plus your own
  • The second side from the first
  • The ratio from width and height, and the closest standard
  • Pixels and megapixels

How to use it

  1. Pick the “Size by ratio” or “Ratio by size” tab.
  2. Choose a ratio and enter a width or height.
  3. See the second side, the pixels and the megapixels.

FAQ

What size do I need for stories?

A 9:16 ratio, for example 1080 × 1920.

What is the closest standard?

If your dimensions nearly match a well-known ratio (within 1.5%), Calcie will point it out.

How do I resize an image without distortion?

Open the “Size by ratio” tab, set the original image's ratio and enter the new width. Calcie calculates the height that keeps the proportions.

Does the “Aspect Ratio” mode work offline?

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

Is “Aspect Ratio” available on iPad and Mac?

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

How do I switch to the “Aspect Ratio” mode?

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “Aspect Ratio”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
