What it calculates

Our loan calculator online works out the monthly payment, the overpayment and the full repayment schedule for both annuity and differentiated payments. It fits a personal loan, a car loan or a mortgage, with a down payment and early repayment.

Enter an extra monthly payment and the calculator shows how much shorter the term gets and how much interest you save. The month-by-month schedule lists the date, the payment, the interest, the principal and the remaining balance.

  • Amount, rate, term, down payment
  • Annuity (equal) or declining payments
  • Early repayment: an extra payment every month
  • The new term, the interest you save, and the full payment schedule

How to use it

  1. Enter the amount and the annual rate.
  2. Set the term and the payment type.
  3. Add a down payment and an extra payment if you plan to.
  4. Check the overpayment and open the schedule: date, payment, interest, principal, balance.

Example

12,345.67 at 16% for 13 months= 1,040.65 a month, 13,528.45 total

FAQ

What's the difference between annuity and declining payments?

An annuity payment stays the same for the whole term. A declining payment starts higher and gradually gets smaller, and you pay less interest overall.

How much will I save if I pay more?

Enter an extra monthly payment and Calcie will show how much shorter the term gets and how much interest you won't pay.

Can I calculate a mortgage?

Yes: a mortgage is just a loan. Enter the home price, down payment, rate and term in years, and Calcie calculates the payment and the overpayment and shows a schedule for the whole term.

Does the “Loan” mode work offline?

Yes. Calcie does all its math right on your device, so the mode works on a plane, on the subway and out of town. Nothing is sent to any server, and the answer appears instantly.

Is “Loan” available on iPad and Mac?

Yes. On iPad the mode has its own layout with larger fields, and on a Mac with Apple Silicon Calcie runs in its iPad version and works from the keyboard. Your Premium purchase applies on every device signed in with your Apple ID.

How do I switch to the “Loan” mode?

Open the modes menu, the icon at the top left of the calculator's main screen, and choose “Loan”. Calcie remembers your choice: next time the app opens right in that mode.
